Hello Everyone...I have been a photographer for the last six years, but have been doing it professionally for the last three and a half years. I always loved to take snapshots of everything and honestly wasn't any good looking back at the images I took and I have grown so much as a photographer since then. A year before my daughter was born, I started looking at photography magazines and I bought a my first SLR camera (and it was film). Then when my daughter was born, I would always be photographing her. It was like I didn't want to miss how little she was or what she had just accomplished...her smile, lifting her head when lying on her belly, sitting, standing, playing with her favorite toy. I just didn't want to miss it.
When I went back to work after my daughter was born, I would display images of her on the counter for all the clients that would come in (I used to work at a print lab in Eau Claire) and ask about her. Then one day a local photographer had asked who took the picture of the little girl. I told him that I had and he was very impressed and asked if I ever thought about doing photography for a living. Up until then I hadn't, but he certainly sparked my interest. I then went to his studio a couple of times and he would teach me about lighting, posing and a few other things. Well, that was the start of my career. So, after that I would be taking more images of my daughter and started asking some friends if I could photograph their children. After a year of doing that, my son was born and I had a new subject to photograph. I then realized how much I enjoyed photographing babies. Plus, I also had the opportunity to photograph a couple of seniors that summer.
After the summer, the print lab grew pretty slow and I was let go. So, I decided that I was going to make something out of my photography career. The first year was slow and each year my clientele grew a little bit more. My daughter is now six and my son is almost four and I have been now photographing babies and seniors professionally for three and a half years. It is crazy where I have started and where I am now.
Now, that we are talking about now...I can tell you that I am NOW going to be venturing upon another NEW BEGINNING. My sister Trina will be joining me as my touch up artist (plus we have a few other things we would like to accomplish within the studio) and we will be moving the studio to a downtown location in Eau Claire, WI. As of right now, my studio is on my property in Augusta which is about a 25 minute drive to Eau Claire. This new adventure, my new beginning, is a big leap of faith. We are both excited about this and we pray that we will gain so much more from this.
Here is to NEW BEGINNINGS :)
